• The Kremlin

    The Kremlin is one of the main symbols of Moscow and Russia. The Kremlin is the historic castle and the oldest place in Moscow located just off the Red Square, Moscow River, Alexander Garden, Saint Basil’s Cathedral  and State Historical Museum.  Nowadays The Kremlin is the official residence of the President of Russia and also museum complex.

    The Kremlin museums are:

    1. Armoury chamber (Armoury and Diamond funds)
    2. Assumption cathedral
    3. Archangel’s cathedral
    4. Annunciation cathedral
    5. Patriarch’s palace
    6. Church of Laying Our Lady’s Holy Robe
    7. Ivan the Great Bell-Tower Complex

    And also Tsar-cannon and Tsar-bell which are placed right on the square inside the Kremlin.

    Address: the nearest metro stations are Aleksandrovskiy sad and Okhotniy Ryad. Just go outside of the metro and you’ll see The Kremlin.

    Open Hours: 10.00 am – 5pm, ticket office works from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm. Thursday is day off.

    Tickets: 350 roubles – full ticket; 350 roubles — for visiting the architectural complex of the Cathedral Square; 200 roubles — to the Armoury Chamber for students; for visiting the Cathedral Square for students. You can also buy tickets to the Kremlin online.

     


    The Kremlin Armoury

    The Kremlin Armoury is the museum located inside the Kremlin. It is one of the oldest museums in Moscow. The basis of The Kremlin Armoury collection consists of jewelry that was made in Kremlin manufactory, armoury of the XII-XIX centuries, czar dresses and carriages. The collection of the Kremlin Armoury is huge, there are 9 exhibition rooms in the museum.

    Open hours: exhibit sessions starts at 10:00, 12:00, 14:30, 16:30.
    Tickets: visitors can buy ticket in the ticket office 45 minutes before the exhibit session starts and also you can buy tickets to the Kremlin Armoury online.

    Tsar-cannon

    Tsar-cannon is huge real cannon that was made in 1568. Tsar-cannon’s length is 5.94 metres (19.5 ft). Tsar-cannon is in the Guiness book as it has the largest caliber in the world. It’s placed outdoor inside the Kremlin in the Ivanovskaya square. Today Tsar-cannon is the popular attraction among tourists.

    Tsar-bell

    Tsar-bell, or Tsar-kolokol, or Royal Bell is the biggest bell in the world. It is 6.14-metre (20.1 ft) tall and 6.6-metre (22 ft) diameter. Tsar-bell that was made in XVIII century at the order of Empress Anna of Russia (Anna Ioannovna). Tsar-bell is made of bronze, it weighs 201,924 kg. Tourists will find Tsar-bell inside the Kremlin not far from the Ivan the Great Bell Tower.

    Ivan the Great Bell Tower

    The tallest building in the Kremlin (81 metres tall) is Ivan the Great Bell Tower. The tower is a bright example of Italian influence on architecture in Russia. Ivan the Great Bell Tower was designed by famous Italian architect — Petrok Maly Fryazin. It was built in 1508 and has more than 20 bells different sizes. Also there are couple of museums in the Tower and viewing point on the top from where visitors can get wonderful Kremlin view.
